SAIT HALIM PASA YALISI

A 19th-century Ottoman mansion located at the heart of the Bosphorus, Sait Halim Pasha Mansion is a unique venue for organizations of all types. Let the mesmerizing Bosphorus view be the backdrop to your ceremony as our experienced team attends to all your needs.

Named after a former Ottoman Grand Vizier, Sait Halim Pasha Mansion was built in the final quarter of the 19th century in Yeniköy, Istanbul.

The first owners of the mansion are believed to be the Duzogulları Family. The Aristarhis Family who acquired the mansion from the Duzogulları demolished it to construct a completely new one around 1863. In 1876 Aristarhis Family sold the mansion to Prince Abdulhalim Pasha, the son of Muhammad Ali of Egypt, often considered the founder of modern Egypt. The mansion, which was considered to be in poor condition and not big enough to suit Egyptian, aristocratic tastes was rebuilt between 1878 and 1880 by architect Petraki Adamandidis of Çanakkale. After Abdulhalim Pasha’s death in 1890 the property was inherited by his nine children. Sait Halim Pasha, gathering all shares from his siblings came into the sole ownership of the mansion in 1894.

The mansion itself was not only a witness to the Ottoman history but a very actor. On 2 August 1914, the German-Ottoman alliance treaty was signed in Sait Halim Pasha’s study, thus leading the Ottoman Empire into World War I as an ally with the Germans, changing the course of history.

Today, Sait Halim Pasha Mansion is one of Istanbul’s most popular venues for social gatherings from weddings to business meetings to special events.

SAIT HALIM PASA MANSION

TRAVEL INFO-ISTANBUL

Without a shadow of a doubt, Istanbul – like London, Vienna, Paris or New York – is one of the world’s great cities. Superbly situated either side of the blue ribbon of the Bosphorus Strait separating Europe from Asia it is,
unlike any other city in the world, split between two continents.

Hagia Sophia (Aya Sofya)
One of the most important and imposing religious buildings in the world

Blue Mosque
Facing the Hagia Sophia (Aya Sofya) across an attractive park area, this is every westerner’s idea of a mosque.

Topkapı Palace
A wonderfully eclectic series of buildings set around pretty garden courtyards…

The Bosphorus Cruise
Cruises operated by Şehirhatları (sehirhatları.com.tr) depart from just east of the Galata Bridge in Eminönü

The Princes’ Islands
The islands still provide respite from the big city, and Istanbulites come here to take horse-drawn carriage rides (no cars are allowed on all the islands), hire bicycles, picnic or tuck into a fish meal.

Grand Bazaar
Shopping at the colorful and chaotic Grand Bazaar is the heart of Istanbul’s Old City and has been so for centuries.

Ortakoy Mosque

On the site of the present-day Ortaköy Mosque there was previously a small mosque built in 1720 and ruined during the Patrona Halil Uprising in 1731. The current mosque was commissioned by the Ottoman sultan Abdülmecid I and built or completed around 1854 or 1856 (the exact dates of construction vary between scholarly sources). Its architects were Armenian father and son Garabet Balyan and Nikoğos Balyan, who worked as a team and who also designed the nearby Dolmabahçe Palace and the Dolmabahçe Mosque in 1853–1855.

The single dome of the mosque was originally built using bricks. However, the dome developed cracks throughout time and was ready to collapse, so a new dome was reconstructed using concrete. In 1894, there was an earthquake that damaged the mosque, and it also suffered a minor fire in 1984. Thus, the structure has undergone a number of repair and restoration work in its time. Today, it is in fair shape.
